First Post on my new Blog!
Hi,
Thanks for visiting my site, it has been a bit of a work in progress so a big thanks goes out to Dan Roberts from DTR Sports Management who has helped me attain some fantastic support for my upcoming assault on next season starting with the Hawaii Ironman in October. Also thanks to Dan Peters from Dan Peters Photography, who has not only set the site up from scratch but also contributed his awesome talent in photography to showcase some of the new products which I will be using. I have known Dan for a long time and he certainly has a great eye and his creative side is second to none.
Next season looks set to be my best ever as my team has secured some great support, but more importantly what I feel are the best products to be racing on at the elite level. Lightweight Wheels are providing me with the best wheels around, the German’s certainly know how to make wheels with some of the top tour de France teams using them. TRAK cycles have also come on board as have Merida Bikes who have supplied me with a Carbon Road bike and a Time Trial Weapon, I will post some photos of these beasts when they are available but they are awesome machines who are making a big push to get into the tri market this year. Scody are providing me with the latest in race clothing and training wear and Saucony are loading me up with running gear, and Ryders Eyewear are looking after the visionary side.
Last season certainly was a highlight for me personally as I had some ground breaking results on a national level, probably the highlight was a PB sub 4 hour performance at Shepparton Half Ironman with limited preparation due to only just joining the Fire Academy training program, duelling it out with Griffo for most of the race was certainly a highlight. After that race I backed that up with a PB 38min City Bay Fun Run, I had been competing in this 12km race just about every year since I was 8 years old and I never though I would produce a time like that. These 2 performances set me up for my best season ever culminating in a 5th place in a stellar field at Geelong 70.3 and an 8th place at Ironman Port Mac and qualifying for Kona. As well as being undefeated in South Australia the year really was a highlight and a stepping stone to bigger things.
As for now though I am enjoying a well earned rest and am off to Kona on a recon mission for October after that I am off to the US west coast for a few weeks holiday before serious training for October begins in late June, the Adelaide winter is certainly going to be tough this year but I am resting assured that I will get through it. I will be doing a few cycle races during the winter and am also going to do the RADelaide marathon in August, I have won this event twice in 05 and 07 with a PB of 2.38 so that should keep me busy during the winter months, along with possibly testing the warm waters at Yeppoon Half Ironman in early August.
Thanks again for checking in, I will post again while I am in the US while I am hoping to put on some winter coating at some of the Las Vegas buffets to help me get through the OZ winter.
